What We Do

How we achieve this

Angel Xpress Foundation has undertaken the task of connecting educated, fortunate adults of a locality with children from underprivileged backgrounds, mostly first generation learners from neighboring slums through free classes organized in public spaces.

Residents of upscale localities, especially highly-educated home-makers, students and the able-bodied retirees are asked to spare 2-3 hours of their week to teach English and math to children going to BMC schools from nearby slums. There is equal focus on value education, grooming and exposure.

Today we teach over 500 children out of our three locations operated out of BMC parks in Bandra, Santacruz and Juhu.

A large part of the philosophy of Angel Xpress lies in redistribution. Besides soliciting clothes, shoes and toys from donors, there exists the philosophy of redistributing joy and happiness.

Exposure opens up the imagination of a child. The children who come to Angel Xpress come from deprived backgrounds and rarely get to experience anything outside of home and school. To reward the children who come to Angel Xpress classes to give them an incentive to work harder and to open up their imagination, there are regular attempts by the volunteers to provide experiences through a variety of engineered outings.

Currently we operate out of the following centers:

•    Bandra Bandstand Promenade (Mannat end): This center is operated with the support of Bandra Bandstand Residents Trust- 70 children attend regularly with classes from 5.30 – 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

•    Raheja Gardens (Rajesh Khanna Park, Santacruz West): With the consent of the Kamla Raheja Trust – 350 children attend classes in 3 batches from 7.45 - 8.45 am, 9 - 10 am and 5 - 6 pm, Monday to Friday. At this center a few dedicated volunteers who work through the week, also dedicate their Saturday mornings by teaching our kids from 9 - 10 am.

•    Juhu Center - Operated from Tilak Udyan, a garden managed by Rotary International Airport which is located behind Ecole Mondiale school, our Juhu center is largely operated and supported by parents of kids studying in Jamnabai school. This center supports over 100 children from surrounding slums in batches operated from 10 - 11 am, 11 am - 12 pm and will soon start classes from 4 - 5 pm.
